PACK LIGHTER

What you probably don't need.

Leaving a few things at home can make your hospital stay feel calmer, simpler, and less cluttered.

Too many outfits

One or two comfortable outfits for yourself are usually enough.

A large supply of diapers and wipes

Many hospitals provide these during your baby's stay. Check with your hospital if you're unsure.

Large amounts of baby clothing

Your newborn generally needs very little clothing while you're still in the hospital.

Jewelry or valuables

Leave expensive or sentimental items safely at home.

Excessive toiletries

Bring the basics you actually use rather than your entire bathroom.

Multiple suitcases

One organized bag is usually easier to manage than several overstuffed ones.

Dr. G's Pearl Parents often overpack because they worry about forgetting something. Hospitals usually have many routine newborn supplies available. A calm, organized bag is far more useful than an overstuffed suitcase.
